HISTORY OF KAZAURE

Historians believe that Kazaure settlement came into being before 1600AD. The first settlement was a place now called Tsohon kafi (literally means, old settlement). The people of that area were Domawa, a tribe, from Kano, who before the advent of Islam were generally Maguzawa, idol worshippers, worshipping a goddess called Kurgungun. Their leader was called Kazaure and the present emirate and town took after his name. Kazaure was a hunter from Kano who came to settle beside hilly area known for its wildlife and a good hunting ground for a famous hunter like him. He later acquired places like Gallu, Gwarta, Belas, etc. His advisers were Katari, Katone, Madisau and Barada.
